Today, an 8 year old told me she was worried about her weight.

Seriously. I clearly understand where she comes from and why she might think the way she does. But lets face it, NO 8 year old girl with her entire life ahead of her should have to worry about her weight. Not that young.

Hearing her tell me about how healthy she had been eating and how she had been cutting down on her calories(I was shocked she even knew the meaning of the word!) only to be followed by the heartbreaking sound of disappointment in her voice when she admitted to not have lost anything…. she’s done absolutely nothing wrong and yet she felt terrible about herself. Like she failed.

But she didn’t. Society failed her. And for that my heartbreaks.

*Sorry for the rant…*
